Peginesatide is used to treat anemia in people who are undergoing dialysis for chronic kidney disease. It comes as an injection that is administered intravenously (through an IV) or subcutaneously (just under the skin) every four weeks. This prescription medicine may not be suitable for people with certain allergies or medical conditions. Side effects include nausea, shortness of breath, and diarrhea.
What Is Peginesatide?Peginesatide (Omontys®) is a prescription medication approved to treat anemia caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults on dialysis. It is injected just once a month.
Are There Side Effects?Just like any medicine, peginesatide may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
