Can Children Use Gablofen?

Gablofen intrathecal injection is approved for children as young as four years old.

What About Off-Label Uses?

On occasion, a healthcare provider may recommend a medication for something other than the approved uses. This is called an "off-label" use. The oral form of baclofen (the active ingredient) is sometimes used off-label for the following purposes:

  • Chronic hiccups
  • Cluster headaches
  • Alcoholism or other addictions
  • Bladder spasms
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Huntington's chorea.

In many cases, the intrathecal forms of baclofen, including Gablofen, would not be appropriate for these off-label uses.
