What If I Overdose on This Drug?

An overdose with C1 esterase inhibitor could increase the risk for potentially dangerous blood clots. Seek immediate medical attention if you believe you may have received too much of this medication.

Storage Information

C1 esterase inhibitor medicines can be stored refrigerated or at room temperature. Keep your medicine in its original carton, protected from light, until you need to use it. Do not allow the medication to freeze.
This medication must be dissolved in sterile water for injection before use. If your particular C1 esterase inhibitor does not come with sterile water for injection, you can get it from your pharmacist. You can also get other supplies you may need to safely prepare and use this medicine (such as needles, syringes, and a sharps container) from your pharmacist.
C1 esterase inhibitor products generally do not contain preservatives, and any medicine left in the vial after each dose must be thrown out. Check the individual product instructions for information on how long the drug is good after mixing. As is always the case, keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you use this medication on a routine basis and miss a dose, contact your healthcare provider for information about what to do. If you are using it to treat HAE attacks, and forget to use it, just use it as soon as you remember. If your attack has progressed to the point where you cannot safely prepare a dose or inject yourself with it, however, do not use the medication, and seek immediate medical attention instead.
