Vandetanib

If you have thyroid cancer that cannot be treated with surgery, a medication called vandetanib may be prescribed as part of your treatment plan. This medicine is taken by mouth once a day and comes in the form of a tablet. Diarrhea, nausea, and a rash are some of the most commonly reported side effects of this product.

Vandetanib (Caprelsa^®) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of a rare type of thyroid cancer known as medullary thyroid cancer. It is used in people whose cancer has spread beyond the thyroid to other areas of the body or cannot be treated with surgery.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, vandetanib can cause side effects.

Although not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems, most people will experience some type of adverse reaction during treatment. Fortunately, in most cases, such problems can be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
