Who Should Not Use Triphasil?

You should not use Triphasil if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Triphasil, levonorgestrel, ethinyl estradiol, or any inactive components used to make the pill. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive components.
  • Have a history of breast cancer or endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the uterus).
  • Have undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding.
  • Have diabetes that has affected your eyes, kidneys, or blood vessels.
  • Have uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • Have problems with your heart valves that increase your risk of blood clots.
  • Have an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) that increases your risk of blood clots.
  • Have a blood clotting disorder (that causes you to clot too easily) or have ever had a blood clot.
  • Have heart disease.
  • Have had a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA or mini-stroke).
  • Have had yellow eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use.
  • Have liver tumors or other forms of liver disease.
  • Are pregnant (or you might be pregnant).

There are a number of situations in which Triphasil should not be used, along with several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before using this form of contraception.
