TriNessa® (norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol) is an oral contraceptive and a generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen®. This prescription birth control pill contains both an estrogen and progestin hormone, and works to prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation, altering the cervical mucus, and changing the lining of the uterus. Possible side effects seen with this drug include headaches, spotting, and nausea. Prior to taking TriNessa, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about your medical history and any other medicines you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
