Triglide Dosage for High Cholesterol
The recommended starting dosage for people with
high cholesterol, with or without
high triglycerides, is
Triglide 160 mg once a day. Your healthcare provider will recommend that you return to have your
cholesterol and
triglyceride levels rechecked after several weeks. If you have not reached your cholesterol goals at this time, your healthcare provider may choose to add a new medication to your treatment.
Your healthcare provider may decide to decrease your dose if a side effect occurs or if your
cholesterol levels fall significantly below the targeted goal.
If you are over the age of 65 or have severe kidney disease, your healthcare provider may decide to start you on a lower dose, such as Triglide 50 mg once a day. If your
cholesterol levels are not at the desired level after several weeks, your dose may be increased only after the effects of Triglide on your kidney have been evaluated.
