Tri-Previfem

Tri-Previfem is an oral contraceptive that also works for treating acne. It is a triphasic birth control pill, meaning there are three different "phases" of pills in each pack, each with a different amount of the progesterone hormone. Tri-Previfem prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and altering cervical mucus and the lining of the uterus. Potential side effects include breakthrough bleeding, breast tenderness, and headache.

 

What Is Tri-Previfem?

Tri-Previfem™ (norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription birth control pill (technically known as an oral contraceptive). It is a generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen®.
 
In addition to its use for birth control, Tri-Previfem is approved to treat acne.

Tri-Previfem Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Tri-Previfem. However, not everyone who uses the contraceptive will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
 
Common side effects of Tri-Previfem include but are not limited to:
 
  • Breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Breast tenderness
  • Headaches.
