Drug Interactions With Tri-Legest Fe

Prior to taking Tri-Legest Fe, tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking. Drug interactions with Tri-Legest Fe may occur if the birth control pill is combined with certain medications, such as antibiotics, barbiturates, and many seizure medications. Some of these negative drug interactions can decrease the effectiveness of Tri-Legest Fe, thereby increasing your risk of pregnancy.

An Introduction to Drug Interactions With Tri-Legest Fe

Tri-Legest® Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) can potentially interact with several other medicines. Many of these interactions are severe enough to lead to unintentional pregnancy. In such situations, a backup method of birth control, such as condoms, may be required. Some of the medicines that may lead to Tri-Legest Fe drug interactions include:
 
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotics
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Barbiturates, such as:
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Many seizure medications, such as:
