Drug Interactions With Tobramycin Inhalation Solution

Several drugs may cause interactions with tobramycin inhalation solution, including certain antibiotics, loop diuretics, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Some of these interactions may increase your risk of developing serious side effects, such as hearing and kidney problems. To reduce your risk of interactions, make sure your doctor has an up-to-date list of your medications, vitamins, and supplements.


An Overview of Tobramycin Inhalation Solution Interactions

Tobramycin inhalation solution (Bethkis®, Tobi®) may interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to reactions with tobramycin inhalation solution include but are not limited to:
  • Mannitol
  • Neuromuscular-blocking medications, such as:
    • Atracurium
    • Cisatracurium (Nimbex®)
    • Pancuronium
    • Rocuronium (Zemuron®)
    • Succinylcholine (Anectine®, Quelicin®)
    • Vecuronium (Norcuron®)
  • Other aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as:
    • Amikacin (Amikin®)
    • Gentamicin
    • Kanamycin (Kantrex®)
    • Neomycin (Neo-Fradin®)
    • Streptomycin
  • Vancomycin (Vancocin®).
