Tinzaparin

Tinzaparin is a medication used to treat a certain type of blood clot. This "blood-thinning" drug works to prevent either the formation of clots or the growth of existing clots by binding to an enzyme in the body known as antithrombin III. It is given as a daily injection. The most commonly reported side effects include bleeding, chest pain, and nosebleeds.

What Is Tinzaparin?

Tinzaparin sodium (Innohep^®) is a prescription medication approved to treat blood clots. It is an injectable anticoagulant, commonly known as a "blood thinner," although such medications do not actually "thin" the blood.

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with tinzaparin.

However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can be treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.

Some of the common side effects of this medication include:

Bleeding
Bruising at the injection site
Urinary tract infection (UTI)
Chest pain
Nosebleed.
