Tiludronate

When and How to Take Tiludronate

General considerations for when and how to take tiludronate include the following:

  • The medication comes in tablet form. It is taken by mouth every day for three months.

  • Take tiludronate on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking a dose. Do not eat for two hours before or after taking the medication. Many foods interact with tiludronate, decreasing its absorption into the body (making it less effective).

  • Swallow tiludronate tablets whole with a full glass of plain water (not any other beverage).

  • Do not take vitamins, minerals, or antacids that contain calcium, iron, magnesium, or aluminum within two hours of taking tiludronate (see Drug Interactions With Tiludronate).

  • It is best to take tiludronate at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
