Thalomid Dosage

When determining your dosage of Thalomid, your healthcare provider will take your weight and the reason you are using Thalomid into consideration, among other factors. Thalomid comes in the form of a capsule and is usually taken once daily. It should be taken with a large glass of water, and at least one hour after a meal.

An Introduction to Dosing With Thalomid

The dosage of Thalomid® (thalidomide) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • The reason you are taking the medication
  • How well you tolerate the medication
  • Your weight.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Thalomid Dosage for Multiple Myeloma

The usual recommended dose of Thalomid for the treatment of multiple myeloma is 200 mg taken once daily, preferably at bedtime. The medication is given in combination with dexamethasone in 28-day treatment cycles. The usual dexamethasone dose is 40 mg taken once daily on days 1 through 4, 9 through 12, and 17 through 20 of each cycle.
If you develop intolerable Thalomid side effects, your healthcare provider may recommend you stop taking the medication, or take a lower dosage. If you temporarily stop the medicine, your healthcare provider will determine if you should restart at the same dosage or a lower amount, once your side effects improve.
