Temozolomide Medication Information

Temozolomide (Temodar®) is a chemotherapy drug used to treat glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma, which are types of brain tumors. This prescription medicine works by disrupting the replication process of DNA strands, which prevents cancer cells from growing and multiplying. It is approved for use in adults and given for a certain number of days, followed by a break in treatment to allow your body to recover.

Although some people may not have any problems during treatment, side effects are common and may include nausea, hair loss, and fatigue.

To ensure your safety with temozolomide, make sure your healthcare provider has current information on any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any other medical conditions you may have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
