Side Effects of TapazoleAs with any medicine, side effects are possible with Tapazole. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can be treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Some of the possible side effects of Tapazole include but are not limited to:
- Hair loss
- Muscle pain.

Drug InteractionsTapazole can potentially interact with a number of other medications (see Tapazole Drug Interactions).
Prior to taking this medication, talk to your healthcare provider if you have:
- Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
- A bleeding disorder
- Any allergies, including to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Over the age of 65
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant (see Methimazole and Pregnancy)
- Breastfeeding (see Methimazole and Breastfeeding).
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
