Simvostatin

A statin medication such as simvastatin (Zocor®) can be used to treat high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It can also be used for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. The medication works by blocking a particular enzyme that controls the rate of cholesterol production in the body, which causes the liver to make less cholesterol. Simvastatin comes in tablet form and is taken once daily. Common side effects of the drug include headache, constipation, and abdominal pain.
