Simvastatin Oral

Simvastatin (
Zocor®) is a medication commonly used for treating high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It is also approved to prevent heart or blood vessel disease.

Simvastatin tablets are available in five different strengths, ranging from 5 mg to 80 mg. The drug is typically taken once a day, in the evening. It is important to avoid consuming any grapefruit products while taking simvastatin, as it could increase the medicine levels in your blood.

You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking this statin medication if you have liver disease or liver failure, heart disease, diabetes, or a family history of high cholesterol. While most people tolerate simvastatin well, potential side effects include headache, constipation, and abdominal pain.
