Your healthcare provider may prescribe simvastatin (Zocor®) if you have high cholesterol or high triglycerides. This medication can increase HDL cholesterol ("good cholesterol"), while decreasing LDL cholesterol ("bad cholesterol"), total cholesterol, and triglycerides. These effects can also help reduce your risk of problems related to high cholesterol, such as heart disease or a heart attack.
