Simvastatin (Zocor®) is a medication commonly used for treating high cholesterol and triglycerides. By blocking the enzyme that controls cholesterol production in the body, it can also help prevent cardiovascular disease. Simvastatin, which is available by prescription only, comes in tablet form and is typically taken once a day. You should talk to your healthcare provider before using this medication if you have liver disease or liver failure, diabetes, or a family history of high cholesterol.
