Simvastatin? Semvistatin is a common misspelling of simvastatin.
A healthcare provider may prescribe simvastatin (Zocor®) to help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and to prevent cardiovascular disease. The medication, which is available by prescription and comes in tablet form, works by blocking the enzyme that controls the rate of cholesterol production in the body. Although most people tolerate simvastatin well, side effects that have been reported with the drug include joint pain, constipation, headache, and increased liver enzymes.
