Precautions and Warnings of Simvastatin

Among the people who should not take Simvastatin are those who are pregnant, nursing, or allergic to the active component of Simvastatin or any of its inactive ingredients. Conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before you take Simvastatin include heart disease, diabetes, and hypothyroidism, among other things. Also, contact your healthcare provider immediately if while taking Simvastatin you experience any muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness (especially if you also have body aches or a fever). Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider about any precautions and warnings of simvastatin that may apply to you.
 

Simvastatin: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

Simvastatin is the compound used for making Zocor®, as well as a generic version of Zocor called Simvastatin tablets. You should consult with your healthcare provider prior to taking Simvastatin if you have:
 

 

Also let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Will be undergoing a procedure or surgery
  • Drink alcohol frequently
  • Have any allergies.
     
Also, tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, antacids, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
 
Finally, make sure to contact your healthcare provider immediately if while taking Simvastatin you experience any muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness (especially if you also have body aches or a fever).
