What Is Sandimmune?

The prescription drug Sandimmune® (cyclosporine) is used to prevent rejection after an organ transplant procedure. Three different forms are available -- they all work by suppressing the immune system, which helps keep the body from rejecting the transplanted liver, heart, or kidney.

The form of Sandimmune and the amount your healthcare provider recommends will depend on certain factors, such as your weight and how you respond to the medication. Side effects are possible, and may include tremors, high blood pressure, and excessive facial or body hair.
