Although
Sandimmune® (
cyclosporine) is effective at preventing rejection after an organ transplant surgery, there are dangers associated with taking it. For example, the medication increases your risk of developing potentially serious fungal, virus, or bacterial infections, and also increases your risk of cancer. In addition, long-term use may lead to kidney or liver damage.
To reduce your risk of complications and ensure a safe, effective treatment process, tell your healthcare provider about any possible side effects that may occur during treatment, even if it is something minor that "just doesn't seem right." Also, make sure you do not miss any of your healthcare provider appointments.
