This prescription medication is classified as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. As a result, it can help to treat conditions such as erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and duodenal ulcers. As with any drug, there are possible side effects with rabeprazole. Some of the common side effects seen with this drug include nausea, diarrhea, and headaches.
