Generic Questran
Questran® (cholestyramine) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat several conditions. These Questran uses include:
- Lowering LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) in patients with high total cholesterol
- Relief of itching caused by a partial biliary obstruction.
Questran is manufactured by Bristol-Myers Squibb for Par Pharmaceuticals and has come off-patent, which means it is also available in a generic form.
Generic Questran is sold under the name Cholestyramine powder and Cholestyramine Light powder.
One scoopful of Cholestyramine or Cholestyramine Light powder contains 4 grams of cholestyramine. The generic form is also available in single packets that contain 4 grams of cholestyramine.
Generic Questran is currently manufactured by several companies, including Sandoz and Eon Laboratories.
