Side Effects of Qualaquin

Just like any medicine, Qualaquin can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
Common side effects of Qualaquin include but are not limited to:
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Sweating
  • Flushing, or a sudden redness and warmth of the skin
  • Nausea and vomiting.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.

Drug Interactions

Qualaquin can potentially interact with several other medicines (see Qualaquin Drug Interactions).

Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking this medication if you have:
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
  • Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
  • Had an abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) or a heart problem known as QT prolongation
  • Heart rhythm problems, such as atrial fibrillation, also called afib.
  • Any other heart problems
  • Low levels of an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD)
  • An autoimmune disease called myasthenia gravis
  • A history of inflammation of the eye nerve (optic neuritis)
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
