Prednisone is a prescription medicine approved for treating a wide variety of different conditions. It works for most conditions by decreasing inflammation or suppressing an overactive immune system. The drug comes in a tablet form that is available in six strengths and a liquid form that is available in two strengths. While most people tolerate prednisone well, potential side effects include increased sweating, high blood sugar, insomnia, and high blood pressure.
