Generic Pravastatin

In April 2006, a generic pravastatin was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This generic version is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and is currently sold under the name Pravastatin tablets. The generic pravastatin is available in three different strengths: 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg.

Pravastatin is sold under the brand name Pravachol®. In April of 2006, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a generic pravastatin, which is sold under the name Pravastatin tablets ("pravastatin").

Who Manufactures Generic Pravastatin?

The generic pravastatin is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals.
 Normally in the United States, one company is given 180 days of exclusivity to manufacture a generic version. After 180 days, it would be expected that a number of other manufacturers of generic medications would also begin making a generic pravastatin sodium.
