Cancer and Pomalidomide

Pomalidomide (Pomalyst®) is a medication available by prescription only and approved to treat a type of cancer called multiple myeloma that affects the plasma cells. It is approved for use in adults, and only after at least two other anticancer medications have been tried without success.

This drug works by preventing myeloma tumor cells from multiplying and causing the cells to naturally destroy themselves. It also blocks the growth of blood vessels around the cancer cells, which prevents the cells from getting the nutrition they need to grow.
