Pimozide Dose and Tourette's

The recommended dose of pimozide (Orap®) for treating Tourette's will depend on your age, weight, response to the drug, and various other factors. This medicine comes in the form of tablets that are taken one or more times a day.
 
The recommended starting dose of pimozide for treating Tourette's in adults is usually 1 mg to 2 mg a day, divided up throughout the day. This amount can be adjusted gradually, but should not exceed a maximum dose of 10 mg a day, or 0.2 mg per kg body weight a day (0.09 mg per lb), whichever is less.
 
The recommended starting dosage in children is usually 0.05 mg per kg body weight (0.02 mg per lb) taken once daily at bedtime. Doses should generally not exceed 10 mg a day in children.
