Phenergan® (promethazine hydrochloride) is a sedating antihistamine often prescribed for the treatment of nausea and vomiting. It can be used for other purposes as well, such as for treating motion sickness and allergies.
 
This medication comes in many different forms and can be taken by mouth (oral tablets and syrup), inserted rectally (rectal suppositories), or injected intravenously in a hospital setting. You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking Phenergan if you have certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy, liver disease, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
