Storage Information

Pentazocine/naloxone should be stored at room temperature and out of direct light. Because it is a potential drug of abuse, it should be stored in a safe place to prevent theft or misuse. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose. In this case, simply skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Is There a Generic Version?

This medication is only available in generic form (see Generic Talwin Nx).

Who Makes Pentazocine/Naloxone?

Pentazocine/naloxone was originally made by sanofi-aventis U.S., LLC. However, sanofi-aventis stopped making the brand-name medication, and it is currently only available in generic form. Generic versions of pentazocine/naloxone are made by a few different companies.

Available Strengths

Pentazocine/naloxone used to be available as a brand-name product called Talwin Nx 50 mg/0.5 mg tablets, which contained 50 mg of pentazocine and 0.5 mg of naloxone. However, it is now only available in generic form. Just like the brand-name product, the generic version contains pentazocine 50 mg and naloxone 0.5 mg in tablet form.
