Pegfilgrastim

Dosing Information

There is only one recommended dose of pegfilgrastim for adults, regardless of your age or liver or kidney function. Pegfilgrastim is not recommended for infants, children, and smaller adolescents weighing less than 99 pounds.

As is always the case, do not adjust your pegfilgrastim dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

(Click Pegfilgrastim Dosing for more information.)

Drug Interactions

Pegfilgrastim can potentially interact with a few other medicines (see Drug Interactions With Pegfilgrastim).

What If I Take an Overdose of Pegfilgrastim?

Taking too much pegfilgrastim can increase the white blood cells too much. Other than high white blood cells, it is not known exactly what to expect from a pegfilgrastim overdose.

(Click Neulasta Overdose for more information.)

How Should This Medicine Be Stored?

Pegfilgrastim should be stored under refrigeration. However, each pegfilgrastim prefilled syringe should be taken out of the refrigerator and allowed to reach room temperature before injection. It can be kept outside the refrigerator for up to 48 hours but must be discarded after 48 hours.

Keep pegfilgrastim and all medications out of the reach of children.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you do not take your pegfilgrastim as scheduled, contact your healthcare provider. Depending on how much time has passed (and how soon your next chemotherapy cycle is scheduled), your healthcare provider may or may not recommend that you take the missed dose.
