Palonosetron Dosing

Palonosetron hydrochloride (Aloxi®) dosing is the same for all adults, regardless of age, weight, or liver or kidney function.
 

Palonosetron Dosing for Chemotherapy

The recommended dose of palonosetron to prevent nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy is 0.25 mg, given by IV about 30 minutes before starting chemotherapy. Because the drug is long-acting, you should not receive more than one dose per week.

Considerations for people taking palonosetron include the following:
 
  • The medication comes in injectable form. It is given by IV about 30 minutes before chemotherapy.
     
  • Because palonosetron stays in the body for several days, you should not receive more than one dose per week.
     
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
