Drug Interactions With Palonosetron

It is no longer believed that palonosetron increases the risk of QT prolongation. While interactions with palonosetron are unlikely to occur, it's important to talk to your healthcare provider about any interactions that may apply to you.

Drug Interactions With Palonosetron

Palonosetron hydrochloride (Aloxi®) is unlikely to interact with other medications. You may come across outdated information listing many possible palonosetron interactions; current information suggests that these interactions are probably unlikely to be a problem.

Originally, it was thought that palonosetron increases the risk of a dangerous irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) called QT prolongation. As a result, it was thought that combining palonosetron with other QT-prolonging medications might further increase such risks.

However, the QT prolongation warning has been removed from the prescribing information for palonosetron, and it seems that palonosetron probably does not significantly increase the risk of QT prolongation. As a result, it is thought that palonosetron probably does not interact with QT-prolonging medications.

It is possible that not all drug interactions with palonosetron were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific drug interactions that may apply to you.
