Generic Ondansetron

As its patent just recently expired, ondansetron is now available for sale in generic form. Generic ondansetron is available in several strengths and forms, including 4 mg to 8 mg tablets, 4 mg to 8 mg orally disintegrating tablets, 5 mg per 5 mL oral solution, and as an injection. Teva Pharmaceuticals, Kali Laboratories, and Baxter Healthcare are just a few of the companies that are currently manufacturing a generic ondansetron.

Generic for Ondansetron: An Overview

Ondansetron hydrochloride (Zofran®) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
 
Ondansetron was first manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Recently, ondansetron has come off patent, making generic versions available.

Generic ondansetron is available in the following strengths:
 
  • Ondansetron 4 mg tablets
  • Ondansetron 8 mg tablets
  • Ondansetron ODT 4 mg orally disintegrating tablets
  • Ondansetron ODT 8 mg orally disintegrating tablets
  • Ondansetrol oral solution 5 mg per 5 mL (one teaspoon)
  • Ondansetrol injection.
