Omeprazole Capsules

Omeprazole (
Prilosec®) is a medication that is available by prescription to treat various conditions related to the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. It is approved for the treatment of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), H. pylori infections, pathological hypersecretory conditions, and certain ulcers.

The drug comes in capsule form and is available in three different strengths, including 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg. It is typically taken once or twice a day. Omeprazole capsules contain tiny granules with a special coating that prevents stomach acid from destroying the medication.

Even though most people tolerate this medicine well, side effects are possible. Some of the side effects that have been reported with omeprazole capsules include insomnia, headaches, and upper respiratory infections (such as the common cold).
