What Is Omeprazole/Sodium Bicarbonate?
Omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate (
Zegerid®) is a prescription medication used to treat several conditions related to the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. It belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
A nonprescription version (Zegerid OCT™) is also available for treating
heartburn.
Just like any medicine, omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate can cause side effects.
However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
