Norpace CR Drug Interactions
To help minimize complications, give your healthcare provider a current list of all vitamins, herbal supplements, and prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking before starting treatment with Norpace CR. Drug interactions could occur when this antiarrhythmia medication is combined with products like Tylenol PM, Benadryl, and St. John's wort. Some of these combinations can increase your risk for serious side effects or other problems.
Norpace® CR (disopyramide) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the products that may lead to drug interactions with Norpace CR include but are not limited to:
- Anticholinergic medications, such as:
- Atropine
- Benztropine (Cogentin®)
- Biperiden (Akineton®)
- Clidinium (Librax®)
- Clozapine (Clozaril®)
- Darifenacin (Enablex®)
- Dicyclomine (Bentyl®)
- Diphenhydramine (Benadryl®, Tylenol PM®)
- Glycopyrrolate (Robinul®)
- Haloperidol (Haldol®)
- Homatropine (Hycodan®)
- Hyoscyamine (Levsin®)
- Ipratropium (Atrovent®)
- Oxybutynin (Ditropan®, Ditropan XL®, Gelnique™, Oxytrol®)
- Procyclidine (Kemadrin®)
- Scopolamine (Transderm Scop®)
- Tiotropium (Spiriva®)
- Tolterodine (Detrol®)
- Trihexyphenidyl (Artane®)
- Trospium (Sanctura®, Sanctura® XR)
- Beta blockers, such as:
- Acebutolol (Sectral®)
- Atenolol (Tenormin®)
- Betaxolol (Kerlone®)
- Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
- Carvedilol (Coreg®, Coreg CR®)
- Esmolol (Brevibloc®)
- Labetalol (Trandate®)
- Metoprolol (Lopressor®, Toprol-XL®)
- Nadolol (Corgard®)
- Nebivolol (Bystolic®)
- Penbutolol (Levatol®)
- Propranolol (Inderal®, Inderal® LA, InnoPran XL™)
- Sotalol (Betapace®)
- Timolol
- Certain other antiarrhythmia medications, such as:
- Flecainide (Tambocor™)
- Procainamide
- Propafenone (Rythmol®, Rythmol® SR)
- Quinidine
- CYP 3A4 inducer medications, such as:
- Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
- Bosentan (Tracleer®)
- Carbamazepine (Carbatrol®, Epitol®, Equetro®, Tegretol®)
- Dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexpak®, Maxidex®)
- Efavirenz (Sustiva®)
- Efavirenz, emtricitabine, and tenofovir (Atripla®)
- Etravirine (Intelence®)
- Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx®)
- Nafcillin
- Nevirapine (Viramune®)
- Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal®)
- Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
- Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®)
- Primidone (Mysoline®)
- Rifabutin (Mycobutin®)
- Rifampin (Rifadin®)
- Rifapentine (Priftin®)
- St. John's wort
- CYP 3A4 inhibitor medications, such as:
- Amprenavir (Agenerase®)
- Atazanavir (Reyataz®)
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
- Conivaptan (Vaprisol®)
- Darunavir (Prezista®)
- Delavirdine (Rescriptor®)
- Erythromycin
- Fosamprenavir (Lexiva®)
- Imatinib (Gleevec®)
- Indinavir (Crixivan®)
- Isoniazid
- Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
- Lopinavir and ritonavir (Kaletra®)
- Miconazole
- Nefazodone (Serzone®)
- Nelfinavir (Viracept®)
- Nicardipine (Cardene®)
- Posaconazole (Noxafil®)
- Quinidine
- Ritonavir (Norvir®)
- Saquinavir (Fortovase®, Invirase®)
- Telithromycin (Ketek®)
- Voriconazole (Vfend®)
- Dronabinol (Marinol®)
- Medications that cause a certain change in the heart rhythm known as QT prolongation (see QT-Prolonging Medications for a list of these drugs)
- Medications used to treat dementia, such as:
- Donepezil (Aricept®)
- Galantamine (Razadyne®)
- Rivastigmine (Exelon®)
- Rivastigmine patch (Exelon® Patch)
- Nabilone (Cesamet®)
- Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
- Pramlintide (Symlin®)
- Verapamil (Calan®, Calan SR®, Covera-HS®, Isoptin SR®, Verelan®, Verelan PM®).
