Norpace CR Dosage

Norpace CR comes in a controlled-release capsule and is usually taken twice daily, with 12 hours between doses. The Norpace CR dosage your healthcare provider prescribes will be calculated based on your weight, age, and response to the medication, among other factors. You will receive your initial doses in a hospital setting, where you can be carefully monitored.

An Introduction to Dosing With Norpace CR

The dose of Norpace® CR (disopyramide) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • How you respond to the medication
  • Your weight
  • Your age
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Norpace CR Dosage for Adults?

Norpace CR doses are based on each person's individual response, and will therefore vary from person to person. Most heart rhythm problems can be controlled on doses between 400 mg and 800 mg a day (taken as divided doses every 12 hours). In general, your healthcare provider will start you on a dose and then adjust the amount, depending on how you respond to the drug and whether you experience side effects.
The recommended initial dosage of Norpace CR for treating ventricular arrhythmias in most adults is usually 300 mg every 12 hours. Lower amounts are recommended for certain people.
The recommended dose for people who weigh less than 110 pounds, people with liver disease, and people with moderate kidney disease is usually 200 mg every 12 hours. People with severe kidney disease should use immediate-release Norpace instead of Norpace CR.
If your healthcare provider is switching you from immediate-release Norpace to Norpace CR, you should start taking your Norpace CR dosage six hours after your last immediate-release dose.
