Norinyl Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of birth control pills (such as Norinyl) include nausea, headaches, and bloating. Often, many of these bothersome side effects improve (or go away) within the first few months of using Norinyl. Side effects of this form of birth control, however, can also be serious. These serious side effects include chest pain, migraines, and vision changes, among others. Report these or any other potentially serious side effects to your doctor right away.
An Introduction to Norinyl Side Effects
As with any medicine,
Norinyl® can cause side effects. However, not all women who use this
birth control pill will experience side effects. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. Often, many of the bothersome Norinyl side effects improve (or even completely go away) within the first few cycles of use.
Common Side Effects of Norinyl
Only vague information is available about Norinyl side effects. In fact, the side effects listed in the prescribing information of Norinyl are actually the possible side effects of all birth control pills in general (not necessarily of Norinyl in particular). Some of the common, bothersome (but not usually dangerous)
side effects of birth control pills include, but are not limited to:
- Breast tenderness and swelling
- Acne (although birth control pills can also improve acne)
- Changes in your eyes that make it more difficult to wear contact lenses
- Breakthrough bleeding and spotting between periods (especially for the first few cycles)
- Headaches (although birth control pills can improve headaches in some women)
- Nausea and vomiting (this can be improved by taking Norinyl with food)
- Bloating
- Changes in sex drive (typically a decrease in sex drive).
