Naltrexone Treatment

Healthcare providers may prescribe naltrexone (Revia®) as part of a treatment plan for adults who are trying to stop abusing alcohol or opioid medications. These types of addictions are complex illnesses, and successful recovery often requires a combination of several approaches. Naltrexone works best if used in combination with things like counseling and support groups.

Although most people tolerate this medication well, it is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment with naltrexone, talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have or any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
