Naltrexone Common Side Effects

Most people who use naltrexone (Revia®) tolerate the medicine well. However, clinical studies have shown that some of the most common side effects, occurring in at least 10 percent of people, include nausea, vomiting, and insomnia. In the majority of cases, however, reactions to this medication tend to be minor and easy to treat.

Because it is difficult to predict whether you will experience side effects with naltrexone, it is important to let your healthcare provider know if you experience anything that just doesn't feel right. In some cases, serious problems can occur during treatment. Some of these potentially dangerous reactions include hallucinations, depression, or thoughts of suicide. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any of these or other serious side effects.
