Naloxone Contraindications

Although most people tolerate naloxone hydrochloride (Narcan®) well, this medication is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment, make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have and any other medications you are taking, including nonprescription medications, vitamins, and street drugs.
For instance, contraindications for using naloxone may include any allergies you might have to the medication or the inactive ingredients used in it. Other safety precautions apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
(Click Precautions and Warnings With Naloxone for more information on contraindications with this drug and details on who should not use it.)
