Naloxone Common Side Effects

Just like many other medications, naloxone hydrochloride (Narcan®) can cause side effects. However, because it is an older medication, there is only vague information available about the possible reactions to naloxone or how common those side effects might be.

Potential reactions to this drug include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sweating.

If adverse reactions do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some potentially serious side effects with naloxone that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience problems such as hallucinations, seizures, or difficulty breathing.
