Naftifine
Your healthcare provider may recommend treatment with naftifine to help relieve symptoms caused by jock itch, ringworm, or athlete's foot. This prescription medicine comes as a cream or a gel, and works to treat these fungal infections by interfering with how the cell walls of the fungus form. Redness, dryness, and stinging are some of the possible side effects.
Naftifine (Naftin®) is a prescription antifungal medication. It comes as a cream or gel and is approved to treat athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm.
Just like any medicine, naftifine may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of naftifine include but are not limited to:
- Burning and stinging
- Dryness
- Redness
- Itching.

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using this medication if you:
- Have any allergies, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
- Are breastfeeding.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
