Uses for Mometasone Cream

For people who have certain skin conditions, a healthcare provider may prescribe
 mometasone furoate cream (Elocon®). Specific uses for this medication can include but are not limited to:
 
 
There are also some unapproved uses, also known as "off-label" uses, for this medicated skin cream. Some of these off-label uses include the treatment of:
 
  • Penile adhesions or phimosis (typically in young boys)
  • Labial adhesions (typically in young girls)
  • Vitiligo.
 
As a type of steroid, mometasone furoate cream works by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. This medication is approved for use in adults and children over the age of two. However, children may have an increased risk for side effects.
