Severe Side Effects of Minoxidil

Contact your healthcare provider right away if you develop potentially severe side effects while using
 minoxidil (Rogaine®). Some of these problems include but are not limited to:
 
  • Swelling in the face, hands, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Problems breathing (especially when lying down)
  • Chest pain, or pain radiating to the neck, arm, or shoulder area
  • Extreme dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting.
 
In most cases, however, reactions to minoxidil tend to be mild and easy to treat. Some of the more common side effects include a dry, flaky, and itchy scalp.
