Midazolam (Versed®) is a prescription medicine commonly used as a sedative before or during medical procedures, dental procedures, or surgeries. It relaxes the muscles, causes sleepiness, and impairs short-term memory by enhancing the effects of a naturally occurring brain chemical. The medication comes in an injectable form and a syrup form.
