Miconazole/zinc oxide/white petrolatum is an ointment that is specifically approved for treating diaper rashes complicated by yeast infections. The medication, which is available by prescription, should be applied to the affected area after every diaper change for seven days. You must apply miconazole/zinc oxide/white petrolatum ointment on your child for a full seven days, even if the diaper rash improves.

Miconazole/Zinc Oxide/White Petrolatum Side Effects
In studies, there did not appear to be any real side effects associated with miconazole/zinc oxide/white petrolatum ointment. In other words, even though some side effects were reported in babies treated with the medication, these side effects occurred just as frequently in babies treated with a placebo ointment with no active ingredient.
